To celebrate women's day on the 8th of March, Montalcino's tourist office organizes a free guided visit focusing on the town's archaeology collection to ponder the role and position of women in society from prehistory to Etruscan times.
The tour also presents a good oportunity to dedicate some time to the rest of the museum collection. Montalcino's museum is home to some beautiful versions of the classic theme of 'Madonna and Child' by Simone Martini, Luca di Tommè and Sano di Pietro, works of the Lorenzetti brothers and a sublime wood sculpted Madonna by Domenico di Agostino.
